Judy wrote a popular post a while back on a certain little star of KnowledgeBox you may have heard of called Feargal Fly.
He’s a hard boiled private eye with a nose for solving a mystery. He’s Judy’s favourite character and, as it turned out, also the subject of an inspirational lesson by the class of 3H at Mosspits Juniors in Liverpool last year.
We found this out because Mr Harbottle, their teacher and IT Manager, commented on the post:
“I used this resource last year with my Year 3 class.
We spent several weeks exploring the story. Then we created a new case for Feargal to solve with a crime scene. I sampled the pictures from the story, as well as creating some new ones, and the class wrote a new story using PowerPoint with hyperlinks!
It is a fantastic story and the children were really inspired to be detectives.
Mr A Harbottle, Mosspits School“
Of course we were chuffed to bits at his comment and the lesson sounded great fun so I sent his comment onto the creator of Feargal and he said that maybe we could do something in return for the pupils at Mosspits for being such great detectives…
So I left him to it and a few days ago he turned up with a special bespoke message animation awarding the pupils of 3H the coveted award of “Special Detectives” starring none other than Feargal himself.
And here it is. Click Feargal to move him through the animation slides.

Thanks so much to Ben, the animator, Mr Harbottle for sharing his ideas with us, and Feargal, for being the coolest fly/detective ever. Keep those classroom stories coming in, we never get bored of hearing about them!
